All Apart

A quest to get my shit together by exposing just how apart it really is.

Archive for Daily Update

Thursday April 5, 2007

First, the excuse. I had kind of a horrible and traumatic start to the week, so I didn’t update. Since no one reads this, it doesn’t matter; EXCEPT that I’m letting myself down, and I’m so very disappointed.

Anyway.

Thursday was a relatively uneventful but still enjoyable day.

Woke up early, had breakfast/coffee and was at school by about 9:00. I had intended to go at around 8:00, but, well, I didn’t. I needed more coffee. Went to the library and sat at a shitty carrel for 45 minutes before realizing that I had to swipe my student card if I wanted to get into the Law-Students-Only reading room.

Prepared (last minute!) for my presentation in animal law, then went to class and presented. Went pretty well.

Came home for lunch and started watching “The Most Hated Family in America” with D. Exerted considerable willpower in tearing myself away from the bigotry in order to go to class, but when I got there, class appeared to have been cancelled, so I came back home, and we finished watching. Scary! Compelling!

Made a test recipe for vegan caesar salad and ate that for dinner before heading off to class. Class was boring.

Came back home and was convinced to go out to the Black Dog, despite having no money. D promised me breakfast the next morning and fun times. He more or less delivered, even though he spent too much time playing darts.

Came home (brought drunk friend G), ordered ‘za, and ate it while watching Mythbusters online.

Sunday April 1, 2007

Woke up and made plans to have brunch with friends. Sat in bed with D and read the paper and drank OJ for a while. Then got up, got dressed, and went for brunch at Lucky. A good time had by all.

Came home and had some “quality time” with D and then watched an episode of Futurama. Dicked around for a while and read 170 pages of a book I got out of the public library telling me how to (essentially) get over the bullshit from my childhood. It’s quite good, even though it is a cheesy self help kind of book.

Did some cleaning and had a shower (major accomplishment!). D came home, and I somehow have forgotten what happened between about 7:00 and 9:30. I do know I watched a bunch of movie trailers and stuff online and talked to my NYC friend. Joined a book club that is going to read The God Delusion.

Watched some Futurama in bed and passed the fuck out.

Productive: 5/10
Fun: 8/10

I’m also adding a new feature to the blog (for my own benefit). I’m now going to write down every penny I spend every day.

$11.00 – brunch

Saturday March 31, 2007

Woke up early, despite going to bed late. Made some breakfast, packed poor, tired D a lunch, and headed to the farmer’s market. It was snowing, but listening to This American Life helped a great deal. Picked up some monster tomatoes, some basil, some bread, and some jam.

Decided to hit up the public library on the way home (since I don’t have enough reading to do already) and got my library card up and running again (unfortunately had to pay old library fines of $24). Got out some cool movies and a bunch of lame self-help books and a Dan Clowes pictographic novel (that’s a comic, kids).

Came home and unpacked stuff and tidied up.

Watched “Some Like It Hot” while flipping through library books. Went to Safeway for some staple goods and came home to make some soup and cupcakes for D’s return home from a hard day at work. Ate, watched some Family Guy with D and then read for a while.

Fought with D, went to Safeway AGAIN to get cat food, came back, and climbed into bed to watch documentary about Day of the Dead. Slept. Got woken up at 2:00 by frat idiots next door.

Productive: 6/10
Fun: 7/10.

Friday March 30, 2007

Woke up early, made banana raspberry muffins and coffee, ate, drank coffee, and went to administrative law class for the first time in almost a month (!!!).

Then headed to the library and did my reading for my criminal procedure class. Came home, (behind closed doors), and then went for felafel at Cafe Mosaics with D. Went and picked up the new Bust magazine at Earth’s General Store, and then headed to criminal procedure class.

Came home, listened to Henry Rollins, and then went to the gym with M. Afterwards, I had some dinner, watched some Family Guy, had a bath, and watched the documentary, Thin, which was sad and strangely compelling at the same time.

Then I headed out to see Against Me! at the Dinwoodie. The band was good, but the crowd was kind of annoying. Maybe it was because I knew there was a person there who I’m a embarassed to have gone on a date with. I tried to find D (he got me into the show for free since he was bartending), but the bar area was full, so I left before the band finished. Not that big of a deal – it was about 800 degrees in the place, and I felt like other peoples’ sweat was all over me.

Now I’ve come home and am drinking a gin and grapefruit and listening to This American Life.

Thursday March 29, 2007

Got up, had breakfast, and headed to animal law class, where we watched The Witness. I really liked it – it had a nice tone; less frenzied and crazy than many animal rights films.

Came home for lunch and got bad cramps, so I got into bed and moaned. D went and got me some ice cream (soy, of course), and we watched High Fidelity (well, I watched, and he napped, since he had a rough night on Wednesday).

Wrote to the editors of ALR explaining my flaky behavior and telling them I wanted to make good. Was too scared to check my email the rest of the day. Went to my constitutional litigation class, which went short. Then I went out for coffee with M, came home, read a bit, watched an episode of Futurama, and then fell asleep.

Wednesday March 28, 2007

Woke up early and intended to go to class, but I was hungover and tired, and it felt like a lazy day (doesn’t every day?). Forgot that I was supposed to get lunch with mom, so was surprised when she showed up at my door, and I wasn’t wearing a bra. She’s not used to having to shield sensitive parties from your loosed boobs for fear of offending (in the case of family/friends) or arousing (in the case of dudes) since she is flat-chested.

Went for lunch with D and mom and my aunt. Missed my afternoon class and then had a crisis of confidence and felt bad about myself.

I read the first 70 pages of The Power of Now, having gotten it confused with The Now Habit. I felt a bit better.

Tuesday March 27, 2007

I don’t remember much about this day either – I went to my animal law class and didn’t go to my conflicts class. I came home after animal law, and ended up trying to help D get over his nerves for a job interview. Then went out to the Garneau Pub for “a drink” and ended up drunk. Ooopsie!

Monday March 26, 2007

I don’t remember what I did (I forgot to write it earlier). I DO remember that I didn’t go to class (either one).

Productive: 4/10
Fun: 4/10

Sunday March 25, 2007

Woke up early with D again. Made granola for breakfast (with strawberries!) and read paper, drank coffee… the usual.

Dicked around for entirely too long creating playlists on Pandora and photographing the cats.

Bun Bun - the boy cat

Started reading Lullabies for Little Criminals, which, so far, is great. D came home from work, and we went to Lucky for a late brunch.

Me Eating

Saturday March 24, 2007

Off to a flying start!

Got up early with D and had some juice. After he left, I finished Franny and Zooey and then got dressed and headed to the Farmer’s Market. Bought some provisions and then met M for breakfast at Lucky. Stopped at Blackbyrd on the way home and picked up Social Distortion tickets ($80 for two!!!! What is the world coming to?), “Silver” by Jesu, and the new Ted Leo/Pharamacists album.

At home, there was a crazy vagrant-looking dude on my front sidewalk who had attracted the attention of an ambulance and an emergency services support vehicle. Went upstairs, located the cats to make sure they were not being harrassed, and then put on the Ted Leo and cleaned up some.

Hung around at home for a while, and then had some lunch. Went to the Black Dog and had a pint with D and our friends. Sat outdoors on the patio in the sun – the first patio sitting of spring.

Stopped at the art supply store on the way home and picked up supplies for my long overdue craft project. Came home and watched Ghostbusters with D and my sister. Did some work on the craft project.

Didn’t really do anything except work on the craft project and talk to people on AIM for the rest of the evening.
